Adam Corrie: When an Unanswered Question Opens a Search

Knowing what we do not believe leaves another question: what can we build a life upon? For Malaysian actor Adam Corrie Lee Abdullah, that question had a personal shape. He described an emptiness in his own life and a search for something he could rely on. [1]
Familiar faces, an unanswered question
Adam grew up in a Buddhist family and later went through a period he described as atheism, when he did not believe in God. In remarks he posted in 2018, reported by mStar, he recalled feeling empty and connected that experience with his search for truth. [1]
He had fasted with Muslim friends and admired Rahim’s prayerfulness and conduct, he told Utusan in 2011. His family supported his conversion. [4]
The morning of 13 July
Adam later recalled asking God for guidance in the early hours of 13 July 2007. He also spoke of a dream that influenced his decision. [2]
That morning, he went to PERKIM and pronounced the shahada before the religious guide Amran Abdullah. His search became a declared choice. Beyond that morning lay the task of learning how to live with the commitment he had made. [2]
Learning beyond the decision
In PERKIM’s 2025 account, he recalled learning prayer and short Quranic chapters after conversion. He later helped other converts through Kembara Iman. [6]
Adam married in 2008. In a 2013 interview, he described scarce acting opportunities while accepting invitations to share his journey. [1][5]
His story therefore continues beyond the shahada: a search for a foundation, worship to learn, and an experience to share. One question remains for the reader: what do I want to understand about God, revelation and worship, and where can my learning begin?
