Uruguay-born footballer Cristian Gerard Alfaro Gonzales came to Indonesia to play. He had been married to Eva Nurida Siregar since 1995, and for years each kept their own religion. The sources do not describe a grand debate; they locate the beginning of his inquiry in an ordinary scene repeated at home.

In an interview reproduced by Indonesian media, Gonzales said he watched his wife pray and make wudu, and paused over the cleanliness and preparation he saw. The account says daily life with Eva strengthened an older wish to know Islam. This is his explanation of the opening, not a claim that cleanliness alone proves a creed.

He was playing for PSM Makassar when he made his decision in 2003. Liputan6’s later report gives 9 October and names Ustadz Mustafa as a witness at Al-Akbar Mosque in Surabaya. Dream’s account says his wife accompanied him, that he recited the shahada there and received a certificate. [1] [2]

He took the name Mustafa Habibie. Dream’s account, published in 2014, describes the difficulty he faced in learning Quran recitation and prayers, and his wife’s help. It also reports her saying that he prayed before matches. [1]
