A Reading Note for Reflecting on Gratitude
A Madarej reading guide
Use this optional note alongside O Allah, All Praise Is Yours to organize reading and reflection. It does not abridge the book or offer an independent explanation of the religious texts it discusses.
Before reading
Write one question about praise or gratitude. Consult the contents or introduction, then choose a passage you can read in context. If a term is unfamiliar, find how the book explains it before drawing a conclusion.
While reading
Make room for a passage and its location, your understanding and a remaining question. Check direct quotations carefully. Preserve references and relevant qualifications when noting a Quranic verse or hadith, and keep the explanation with the passage.
After reading
You may reflect on a blessing you notice or a responsibility you want to fulfil. Identify this as your chosen application unless the book itself prescribes it. Understanding a point or clarifying a question can be a useful outcome.
When you return
Review the unresolved question. Does a later passage explain it? Does the book refer you to a commentary? Keep uncertainty visible rather than sharing an unsettled point as established knowledge.
