A Madarej reading guide
A moment in a biography may stay with you. To keep reading close to the text, ask what is reported, what its context is and what you have inferred. These questions organize reading; they do not qualify a reader to authenticate reports.
Distinguish kinds of writing
A passage may combine a transmitted account, the author’s explanation and a practical reflection. Keep them distinct. Do not attribute an editor’s comment to the historical person or present your paraphrase as a direct quotation. Authenticity questions require qualified scholarship.
Read the context
The surrounding passage may explain the question or circumstances. Use the book’s notes and references. If a detail remains unresolved, record a question rather than filling the gap with invented dialogue or motives.
Consider different forms of service
The Qualities of the Companions explores different strengths and forms of service within a shared purpose. Ask which contribution the passage highlights, what it establishes and what needs further understanding before you apply it to your circumstances.
Keep a traceable note
