Read the opening statement on Arabic PDF page 4. Note the question you want to explore and separate the book’s stated purpose from your expectations. Read Arabic PDF page 14. Distinguish the report, the author’s interpretation and your reflection. Keep one question about the limits of what the text establishes. Use the contents to choose a chapter that matches your question. Record its boundaries and read a coherent passage at a manageable pace. Follow one reference in the chapter. Record the source, its location and what remains unclear. The existence of a link is not itself a judgement on a report’s authenticity. Ask about the reported action and the responsibility that accompanied it. Avoid inventing motives or assigning yourself a historical personality type. Open the book worksheet and write an idea and a next step. A question you need to study can be enough; every reading session need not become a project. Revisit your first question, correct your notes and choose whether to continue the chapter or read another.
