Sami wakes and spots Dad peeking through the door.

I opened my eyes.
“Where's Dad?”
“Here I am!”

Dad opens the curtains while Sami watches the morning light.

Dad opened the curtains.
In came the light.
Light… and more light!

Dad gently tickles Sami's open palm, making him laugh.

I opened my hands.
Dad tickled my fingers.
I giggled. “Again!”

Sami points to his water cup and plate of bread.

I pointed to the cup. “Water!”
Then to the plate. “Bread!”

Sami and Dad share a quiet moment of thanks at breakfast.

“Gifts from Allah,” said Dad.
“Alhamdulillah.”
“Alhamdulillah,” I said.

Sami opens his arms and leans into Dad's warm hug.

Dad opened his arms.
I opened mine.
One big hug…
and a giggly start to the day!
