One Shoe, Then the Other — An Illustrated Read-Aloud Story
A picture story to read together, within the birth-to-two stage. The full text is aimed around 18–24 months.

Two little shoes waited by the door.
I sat on the rug.
“Let’s get ready to go,” said Dad.

He opened the first shoe
and helped my foot slide in.
One shoe!

I picked up the other.

I tried…
but it was turned around.

Dad turned it a little, then waited.
I pushed my foot inside.
One shoe, then the other!

I stood up, and Dad opened the door.
One step for me, one step for him.
Out we went together.
This is an original fictional story, not an account of a historical event.
