Three Evenings and One Bag — A Shared-Reading Picture Story
Story code: B14 | Age: 3–5 years | Reading time: 2–4 minutes

A picture story about young Salma, her mother, and her little brother. The family tests three places for the bag and changes the plan until it is safe and easy.
Scene One

One evening, Salma searched for her little bag. She found the bag under a chair and her notebook near the window. Her box of crayons was in another room. “Let’s choose one place for the bag,” Mama said. “We can test it for three evenings.”
Scene Two

On the first evening, Salma left the bag beside the door. In the morning, she found it quickly. But her little brother tripped over its long strap. “Easy to find,” Mama said, “but not safe there.”
Scene Three

On the second evening, Salma placed the bag on a high shelf. The hallway stayed clear, but Salma could not reach the bag by herself. “Safe,” Salma said, “but too high.”
Scene Four

On the third evening, Mama fixed a low hook beside the cupboard, close to Salma’s hand and away from the hallway.
Scene Five

Salma hung up the bag. She tucked in her notebook, crayon box, and drawing paper. Then she checked the strap. It no longer touched the floor.
Scene Six

The next morning, Salma lifted the bag all by herself. No one tripped, and she did not need help reaching it. “The first plan didn’t work,” Salma said. “It still taught us what to change,” Mama replied. The three evenings had not been a test; they had simply helped her find a place that worked.
Try It Together
Choose one often-used item and test a safe, easy-to-reach place three times. After each try, ask: Can I reach it? Does the walkway stay clear? Then adjust the plan calmly.
