Awake in Dad's lap, Sami notices his feet making bumps under the blanket on his legs.

“Where are my feet?”
I looked down.
Something was wiggling under my blanket!

One striped sock peeks out beneath the blanket.

I wiggled one foot…
Up came the blanket's edge.
“There's one!”

Both feet pop out and Sami and Dad laugh.

I wiggled the other.
“There are two!”
Dad laughed. So did I.

Sami quietly strokes a corner of the blanket while sitting in Dad's lap.

I stroked a corner of my blanket.
Soft… warm.
“Alhamdulillah,” said Dad.
“Warmth is a gift from Allah.”

Sami yawns with the folded blanket on the chair beside them.

I yawned.
“Aaah…”
Dad folded the blanket
and left it on the chair.

Dad holds Sami close, his head resting on Dad's shoulder; the blanket stays on the chair.

Dad picked me up.
I rested my head on his shoulder.
His voice grew soft…
and the house grew quiet.
